History of Jingle Jam 10K

In 2011, a domestic violence survivor and her group of friends in Augusta, Georgia, had the idea to start a holiday tradition that would bring the community together and help those escaping from the same situation that she had. As a previous client of SafeHomes Domestic Violence Center and an avid runner, Goldei and her friends created Jingle Jam 10K road race, with all proceeds going to SafeHomes.

Since its inception, Jingle Jam 10K has grown each year, attracting more and more runners (and walkers!) over the age of 10 and of all abilities. The event has become a cherished tradition for many Augusta residents, providing an opportunity to get out and enjoy the holiday spirit while also giving back to the community.

Jingle Jam 10K is always held on the first Saturday of December. It starts and finishes at Evans Town Center Park in Evans, GA.

Over the years, the Jingle Jam 10K has raised tens of thousands of dollars for SafeHomes. Proceeds help to transform domestic violence victims into survivors.

Bringing a Community Together

One of the most popular aspects of Jingle Jam 10K is the community and holiday spirit that it fosters. People from all walks of life come together to enjoy the festivities. The event has become a tradition for many families in Augusta. Each year, participants share their stories of how Jingle Jam 10K has brought them closer in supporting their community.

One participant, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It’s a local run, which went through my mom’s neighborhood before 2020. I have watched her deal with survivorship my entire life. This cause helps those who found themselves in similar situations to her in 1980.”

An Example of Community

Jingle Jam 10K is a great example of how a community can come together. You can have an impact on the lives of others. From local businesses to individuals, everyone has an opportunity to lend their support and end domestic violence. By donating, volunteering, or simply raising awareness, we are showing that coming together as one can create something truly special. Together, we can all move forward toward ending domestic violence.
