Dear Jingle Jammers,
On behalf of the Jingle Jam 10K Board of Directors, it is with a grateful heart that I tell you that 2023 will be our final year. An idea that started in my living room in January 2011 between my friends and a group of SafeHomes volunteers blossomed into a beloved local event that also became part of the local vernacular. Looking back at our 12-year history, we have so many accomplishments to be proud of and too many memories to be grateful for.
Our 2022 10k race was a banner year for us, as it was our return from not only a global pandemic in 2020 but a last-minute cancellation in 2021. However, as the last three years have shown us, change is the only constant in life. The members and the lives of our Jingle Jam 10K Board of Directors have changed over the past 12 years, as has the local landscape (i.e., we can no longer shut down Washington Rd for 2 hours on a Saturday morning in December 🤭).
For these reasons, we have chosen 2023 as our farewell year. Over the next few months, look for “Merry Memory Memos” from our JJ10K elves, board members, volunteers, sponsors, and runners as we look back at 12 years of jamtastic costumes, jamming jingle bells, Christmas carolers, and that’s right, Kenny Buddy the Elf!
I’ll also be sharing a few of my “JJ10K Favorite Things” (all those behind-the-scene stories!) as we prepare for our farewell race on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Talk to you again soon, Jingle Jammers!
